The Main Street Wilmington Facade Improvement Program
Downtown Wilmington is gaining momentum with new businesses and expanded residential opportunities. The Main Street Wilmington Facade Improvement Program will aid this growth by making Downtown Wilmington more attractive to shoppers, diners and residents. Facade improvement programs aid economic development by enhancing the appearance of existing building and improving pedestrian access. The Main Street Wilmington Facade Improvement Program will provide guidance, support and matching grant funding to building owners who want to improve the facade of their building.
Vacancy Treatment Initiative
Downtown Wilmington is currently undergoing a large revitalization. There are many projects underway that are making a large impact on the retail spaces available along the major commercial corridors. While many of the spaces are not ready for a new tenant, some of the spaces have not yet been leased. Main Street Wilmington (MSW) assists property owners by dressing up their windows and drawing some positive attention to their vacancies.
MSW partners with local shops that are located nearby to create dynamic window displays to create additional advertising space for businesses that are already opened along the commercial corridors. The program also provides an opportunity for local artists to display there work without the need for a conventional gallery space.
